As well as Fletcher’s absence, United are without Brazilian midfielder Anderson who is out for three months due to a knee injury, which has prompted the club to enter the transfer market.

It has emerged that Everton are the team who should be bracing themselves, as United are reportedly mulling over moves for either Cahill or Rodwell.

Manchester United have long been linked with a move for Everton’s talented 20 year-old midfielder Rodwell, with Ferguson known to be a keen admirer of the newly capped England star.

Everton are currently struggling financially and they know they may need to sell some of their star players, to bring in new players to bolster their squad. It is believed that Everton are holding out for around 23 million for Rodwell.

Following a badly-timed string of injuries at the club, it is looking more and more likely that Manchester United will have to spend in the January transfer window, with Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira making the shortlist.

In his midfield, Sir Alex Ferguson is likely to be without Tom Cleverley and Anderson until February at the soonest, with Darren Fletcher also taking time off from the game to battle a stomach illness.

Phil Jones is doing a more than adequate job in his new role of centre midfielder playing alongside Michael Carrick but central replacements are few in number.

The situation is bad enough that the Scot has apparently asked Paul Scholes to come out of retirement after just five months out of the games.

Despite claiming earlier last week that the Red Devils would not be making any signings in the New Year, defensive injuries are also taking their toll on the side and it’s likely the Glazer family will need to dip into their purses come January.

Khedira has made almost 50 appearances for Real Madrid since his move from Stuttgart last summer and is rumoured to have came close to signing for the Premier League side at the time.

However, the 24 year-old opted for the sunnier climates of La Liga and has earned the praise of pundits from across Europe, making a name for himself as a no-nonsense holding midfielder that is more than capable of helping out in attack.

Making his senior debut at the age of 22, Khedira is also a German international and has made 24 appearances for Die Mannschaft since 2009, scoring a sole goal.

After the side came close to signing Wesley Sneijder over the summer, critics have commented that Manchester United are in need of a creative midfielder, and although Ferguson may have thought those comments were unfounded in September, injuries may have made it necessary.

The transfer fee for which Khedira moved to Real Madrid is currently unknown, however the Spanish giants have reportedly stamped an 18m price-tag on their valued asset.

Real Madrid have emerged as serious contenders for Manchester United target Mario Gotze next summer and the Spanish giants will look to gazump the Old Trafford club with a first refusal offer, rumoured to have already been made by Sir Alex Ferguson’s side for close to 1.5m.

Real Madrid currently house international team mates of Gotze in Mersut Ozil and Sami Khedira with it being likely that both have suggested to the 19 year old what it is like in the Spanish capital. The player himself though has suggested that he would like to remain at Dortmund for “a few years yet” although it can be assumed a move within the next two years is a distinct possibility.

An issue for most clubs next summer will be the Financial Fair Play Ruling which will allow clubs to spend only their reported profits. Although a one off transfer of 20m should not be an issue for either Manchester United or Real Madrid it will take a big chunk out of their respective transfer kitty’s. For other clubs, Gotze would not even be an option.

His price is likely to increase over the next ten months however it is believed United are currently only monitoring his situation and are not considering a bid next summer at this time

Что ни день, то слухи! Кого нам только не приписывали..или кого хотит.. Родвэлл, Кейхил, Де Росси, Гайтан..уже и 32-х летний Тим нарисовался.. Если еще где то увижу инфу, что мы якобы возобновили интерес к Снейдеру..то тут впору валерьянку пить прийдеться))

Тим, конечно, аццкий боец. Вот кого действительно был бы рад видеть, так это его. Но 32 есть 32. Если он не ушел из Эвертона раньше, то вряд ли уйдет сейчас.
